Question: Our solution of Potassium Dichromate Solution with Perchloric Acid has just recently expired. Can this solution still be used and is there any stability data that shows the solution could be used past expiration?
Answer: Since the stability of potassium dichromate is very good, if your internal SOP will allow for its use past the expiration date, it may be very possible to use as long as the product has been stored and handled properly.
Note: The Chemical Solutions™ brand Qualification products have been on the market for over 30 years and stability has been observed and recorded as good, well past the expiration dates. The expiration dates are set to current length of time to satisfy most customer’s internal policies of two years from date of manufacture but in fact the products perform as designed well past the date.
