The main difference between mobile phase inlet filters versus sparging filter are between the fittings used and the type of pressure used in the filter.
Sparging devises (stones, filter elements, i.e. HERE) are different from inlet filters only for mobile phase by the pressure and fittings used to make the connections. When sparging, there is a positive pressure that requires nuts and ferrule connections.
Friction fittings like “Tripod” connectors should only be used when assembling mobile phase filters, or negative pressure filters.
The limiting pressure factor of a filter sparging stone is not for the filters / spargers, but for the connections.
