It depends on your system and detector performance.

For many systems, including Agilent™ 1100 series, a 10 µL injection of the L6 solution typically produces a peak height of 1600–1800 mAU—which is near the upper absorbance limit for most UV detectors. If you're using a 20 µL loop, you may exceed the detector’s linear range, especially with concentrated solutions like L6.

For other systems, such as Jasco™, you’ll need to test a 20 µL injection of the L6 solution and observe the detector response. Most detectors max out around 2000 mAU (2 AU), but some lower-spec models may only be linear up to 1200–1500 mAU.

Recommended Approach:

  • Perform a trial injection of the L6 solution at 20 µL.
  • If the peak height exceeds your detector’s linear range, consider switching to a smaller fixed loop (e.g., 10 µL).
  • If the signal is within range, you can proceed with the tests as usual.

Important Note:

With a fixed injection volume, you will not be able to perform the volume injection linearity test. The software will automatically bypass this section if no data is entered. However, all other Chemical Solutions PQ™ and HSQ™ tests can still be performed as written.
