The Zone-Free™ sealing film is comprised of a 70 µm-thick polyethylene membrane that is easily pierced by single or multichannel pipettors, robotic probes, HPLC/LCMS sampling systems, and handheld pipettes.

There is no adhesive over each well aperture and the polyethylene film is inert and chemically resistant, withstanding temperature exposure ranging from -40 to 90 °C. The film does not reseal once penetrated, and each well will then be exposed to the laboratory atmosphere.

The film’s ability to limit evaporation is directly proportional to the type and degree of penetration result. Some needles will leave a very small, clean result while other, more blunt and larger diameter tips will leave a significant result.
