In most cases, one of these filters can be used until it is blocked with particulate matter at which time, the flow through the membrane will cease.

In most applications you will use the filters for removing small amounts of particulate matter from your HPLC mobile phase before introducing them to the system. The filter should be suitable for a wide range of solvent volume in this case, since there will be very little particulate matter present.

In other situations such as filtering turbid Liquid Samples (e.g. milk, creams, lotions), the Filter will become blocked much quicker. Consider Centrifuging the liquid First before Filtering in situations like this.
