INTERNAL ONLY
Porous products like frits are manufactured from irregular particulars of stainless steel powder. The resulting frit does not have a ‘poresize’, but behaves like it has a certain porosity, tested by the bubble point test. We can therefore not give a mesh, as a mesh would need a defined poresize.
The flow in your system is not only dependent on the porosity. It is also dependent on the number of pores available. You can think of a frit(1) with 1000 pores and a porosity of 2 µm. On the other hand think about a frit(2) with only one single pore with 2 µm poresize. Both frits do fulfill the criteria ‘2 µm porosity’, but frit(1) with 1000 pores will have a much better flow and lower backpressure than frit(2) with only 1 pore.
Making porous sintered frits is not an exact science, it is lots of experience and some ‘try and error’.
