Column Filters, for HPLC, 2.0 um Stainless Steel filter element and All-PEEK body. Disposable, with end plugs. Natural. Cogent Brand. 5/PK.

Additional Info:

The Cogent In‑Line Column Filter (2.0 µm) is a disposable pre‑column protection device designed to protect analytical HPLC columns from larger particulate contamination while maintaining lower pressure impact compared to finer‑pore filters. This configuration is commonly selected when sample matrices are cleaner or when methods are sensitive to additional restriction.

Each filter incorporates a 2.0 µm stainless steel filter element housed in a natural‑color all‑PEEK body, providing excellent chemical compatibility and a metal‑free flow path outside the filter element itself. These filters effectively trap undissolved particles and pump‑seal debris, helping prevent irreversible column damage and premature performance loss.

The universal connection design fits all standard analytical HPLC column threads and pilot lengths. Installation is straightforward using hand tightening or a wrench, allowing fast replacement during routine maintenance or method setup.

Key Features

Effective Pre‑Column Protection

  • Prevents particulates from entering the analytical column

  • Reduces risk of frit blockage and column damage

  • Supports longer column life in routine workflows

2.0 µm Stainless Steel Filter Element

  • Suitable for applications requiring lower flow restriction

  • Balanced protection for cleaner samples

  • Minimizes added system backpressure

All‑PEEK Disposable Housing

  • Broad chemical compatibility

  • Lightweight, corrosion‑resistant construction

  • Disposable design eliminates cleaning or regeneration

Universal HPLC Connection

  • Fits all analytical HPLC column threads and pilot lengths

  • Compatible with standard wrenching or hand‑tight installation

  • Easily integrated into existing chromatographic systems

Usage & Replacement Guidance

When an in‑line column filter is installed, system backpressure should be monitored. A gradual increase in pressure typically indicates filter loading.

To replace:

  1. Reduce system pressure to atmospheric

  2. Disconnect the used filter

  3. Dispose of the unit

  4. Install a new in‑line filter and resume operation

These devices are commonly referred to as pre‑column filters because they are installed upstream of the analytical column.

Pressure Rating & Compatibility

  • Maximum pressure: 4,500 psi

  • Compatible with: Analytical HPLC systems

  • Not recommended for: UHPLC pressure ranges

For higher particulate retention, a 0.5 µm version is available within the same filter family.

Typical Applications

  • Routine analytical HPLC

  • Cleaner sample matrices

  • Method development and validation

  • Column life‑extension programs

  • Systems sensitive to pressure increases
