Cogent HPS Phenyl™ Semi-Preparative HPLC Columns are designed for purification, fraction collection, and method scale-up of aromatic and structurally related compounds using reversed-phase chromatography. Manufactured using a monofunctional four-carbon ligand with an attached phenyl group bonded to high-purity 120Å silica and fully end capped for excellent peak shape and reproducibility, this stationary phase provides unique aromatic selectivity through π-π interactions. HPS Phenyl™ is particularly effective for compounds that may be difficult to separate on conventional C18 phases and is widely used for purification and isolation of complex aromatic analytes.

75020-SP50 is packed with 5 µm HPS Phenyl™ particles in a 10 mm ID x 50 mm semi-preparative format. The 5 µm particle size provides excellent chromatographic efficiency while maintaining lower operating backpressure than smaller particles. The 10 mm internal diameter increases sample loading capacity compared to analytical columns, while the short 50 mm column length is optimized for rapid purification, high-throughput processing, and semi-preparative method development.

The HPS Phenyl™ stationary phase is especially useful for purification of positional isomers, tocopherols, flavonoids, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, nitro-aromatic compounds, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), natural products, and related compounds.
