Cogent HPS C8™ Semi-Preparative HPLC Columns are designed for purification, fraction collection, and method scale-up of hydrophobic and neutral compounds using reversed-phase chromatography. Manufactured using a unique 120Å silica support with monofunctional octyl (C8) bonding and full double end capping, this stationary phase provides excellent reproducibility, peak shape, and loading capacity. HPS C8™ is widely used as an alternative for USP L7 methods and for developing new purification methods that require moderate hydrophobic retention.
75008-SP250 is packed with 5 µm HPS C8™ particles in a 10 mm ID x 250 mm semi-preparative format. The 5 µm particle size provides excellent chromatographic efficiency while maintaining lower operating backpressure than smaller particles. The 10 mm internal diameter increases sample loading capacity compared to analytical columns, while the 250 mm length provides maximum resolving power and peak capacity for demanding purification applications and method scale-up.
The HPS C8™ stationary phase is ideal for hydrophobic and neutral compounds analyzed using reversed-phase chromatography. Compared to C18 columns, the octyl phase generally provides shorter retention while maintaining excellent selectivity. This column is particularly useful for long-chain fatty acids and other compounds that benefit from moderate hydrophobic interactions. The 250 mm length is often selected when maximum separation performance is required for complex sample mixtures and difficult purifications.
