Cogent NP Amino™ HPLC Columns are designed for normal-phase and HILIC separations of highly polar compounds. Manufactured using ultra-high purity silica bonded with a three-carbon propyl linker and terminal amino functionality, this stationary phase provides the selectivity required for retention and separation of compounds that can be challenging on traditional reversed-phase columns. NP Amino™ is an excellent alternative for USP L8 methods and for new method development involving polar analytes.
68540-05P-2 is packed with 5 µm NP Amino™ particles in a 2.1 mm ID x 50 mm format with a 100Å pore size. The 5 µm particle size provides reliable performance with moderate backpressure, while the narrow-bore 2.1 mm ID format reduces solvent consumption and supports highly efficient separations. Typical operating flow rates are approximately 0.2–0.3 mL/min, and the HPLC system must be capable of delivering stable and accurate low-flow performance.
The amino stationary phase is not end capped and is particularly useful for sugars, carbohydrates, organic acids, and other polar compounds containing hydroxyl or carboxylic acid functionalities. This column can be used in Normal Phase and HILIC chromatographic modes and is commonly selected during method development when evaluating alternative retention mechanisms. Packed and shipped in normal-phase solvents, this column is frequently used as a method scouting column. Although the 2.1 mm format is commonly associated with LC-MS dimensions, this column is not specifically recommended for LC-MS applications.
