HPLC Column, RP Phenyl Hexyl, 5um, 2.1mm ID x 150mm Length, 100A. Cogent Brand. 1 EA.
Additional Information:
Cogent RP Phenyl Hexyl™ HPLC Columns are designed for reversed-phase separations where enhanced aromatic selectivity and strong π-π interactions are desired. Manufactured using ultra-high purity silica bonded with a six-carbon linker and terminal Phenyl group, this stationary phase is fully double end-capped to minimize secondary interactions and provide highly reproducible chromatographic performance. RP Phenyl Hexyl™ is an excellent alternative for certain USP L11 methods that specify or benefit from Phenyl Hexyl selectivity.
68539-15P-2 is packed with 5 µm RP Phenyl Hexyl™ particles in a 2.1 mm ID x 150 mm format with a 100Å pore size. The 5 µm particle size provides low operating backpressure and excellent reproducibility for LC-MS compatible methods. The 2.1 mm ID format reduces solvent consumption while improving mass spectrometry sensitivity. Typical operating flow rates are approximately 0.2–0.3 mL/min, and the HPLC system must be capable of delivering stable and accurate low-flow performance for optimum results.
The six-carbon linker positions the Phenyl group farther from the silica surface, increasing π-π interactions while reducing the influence of residual silanol activity. This enhanced selectivity can improve retention and separation of many aromatic and moderately polar analytes including positional isomers, tocopherols, flavonoids, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, nitro-aromatic compounds, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), natural products, and related compounds. RP Phenyl Hexyl™ columns are often evaluated as an alternative to other Phenyl Hexyl stationary phases used in USP L11 methods, including Restek™ Phenyl Hexyl columns. For optimized π-π interactions, methanol is often preferred over acetonitrile as the organic modifier. This column size is commonly used for LC-MS applications.
