HPLC Column, RP Phenyl, 3um, 2.1mm ID x 100mm Length, 100A. Cogent Brand. 1 EA.
Additional Information:
Cogent RP Phenyl™ is a reversed-phase HPLC stationary phase designed to provide unique selectivity through π-π interactions between aromatic analytes and the bonded phenyl functionality. Manufactured using a traditional three-carbon linker with a terminal phenyl ring bonded to ultra-high purity silica and fully double end capped, this stationary phase provides chromatographic behavior distinct from conventional alkyl phases. As a USP L11 equivalent phase, it is widely used for method replacement, method development, and applications involving aromatic and structurally related compounds.
68324-10P-2 is an HPLC column packed with 3 µm RP Phenyl™ particles featuring a 100 Å pore size in a 2.1 mm ID x 100 mm format. This narrow-bore configuration combines enhanced chromatographic resolution with reduced solvent consumption and excellent compatibility with LC-MS instrumentation. The 100 mm length provides greater resolving power than shorter 50 mm columns, while the 3 µm particles provide improved efficiency and sharper peaks than comparable 5 µm columns. Typical operating flow rates are approximately 0.2–0.3 mL/min. Because of the low flow rates required by 2.1 mm ID columns, standard HPLC systems must be capable of precise and reproducible low-flow operation.
This column is particularly useful for the separation of positional isomers, tocopherols, flavonoids, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, nitro-aromatic compounds, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), natural products, and related compounds. The unique selectivity of the phenyl phase makes it an excellent choice when conventional C18 or C8 columns do not provide adequate resolution. This column format is especially popular for LC-MS applications when additional separation and peak capacity are required.

Important Notes
Suitable for conventional HPLC and LC-MS systems
3 µm particles provide higher efficiency and sharper peaks than comparable 5 µm columns
Generates higher backpressure than larger particle columns
The 2.1 mm ID format is commonly used for LC-MS applications
Standard HPLC systems must be capable of precise and reproducible operation at approximately 0.2–0.3 mL/min
Detector flow cells should be optimized for low-volume, narrow-bore chromatography
The 100 mm length provides greater resolution than 50 mm columns while maintaining practical run times
Provides unique selectivity compared to C8 and C18 phases
Particularly useful for aromatic compounds and positional isomers
Commonly used as an alternative for USP L11 methods
