HPLC Column, RP C8 Octyl, 3um, 2.1mm ID x 150mm Length, 100A. Cogent Brand. 1 EA.

Additional Information:

Cogent RP C8 Octyl™ is a versatile reversed-phase HPLC stationary phase designed for the separation of hydrophobic and neutral compounds. Manufactured using a traditional octyl (C8) bonded phase on ultra-high purity silica and fully double end capped, it provides strong hydrophobic interactions while often offering reduced retention compared to C18 phases. As a USP L7 equivalent phase, it is widely used for method replacement, method development, and routine analytical separations where balanced retention and selectivity are desired.

68308-15P-2 is an HPLC column packed with 3 µm RP C8 Octyl™ particles featuring a 100 Å pore size in a 2.1 mm ID x 150 mm format. This narrow-bore configuration combines maximum chromatographic resolution with reduced solvent consumption and excellent compatibility with LC-MS instrumentation. The 150 mm length provides significantly greater peak capacity and resolving power than shorter column formats, while the 3 µm particles deliver higher efficiency and sharper peaks than comparable 5 µm packings. Typical operating flow rates are approximately 0.2–0.3 mL/min. Because of the low flow rates required by 2.1 mm ID columns, standard HPLC systems must be capable of precise and reproducible low-flow operation.

This column is particularly useful for hydrophobic and neutral compounds in reversed-phase chromatography and is especially well suited for long-chain fatty acid analysis. The C8 chemistry offers excellent retention and selectivity while often reducing excessive retention compared to more hydrophobic phases. This column format is frequently selected for LC-MS methods when maximum resolution and peak capacity are required.
