The industry-standard 4.6 mm ID format typically operates best at approximately 1.0–2.0 mL/min on conventional HPLC systems.

Because the stationary phase is completely unmodified silica, this column is an excellent alternative for legacy methods specifying USP L3 columns. It is suitable for the separation of hydrophilic, hydrophobic, polar, and non-polar compounds using normal phase chromatography and offers performance comparable to traditional Porasil® silica columns.
