No, they are very different!
Silanized vials coat glass using gaseous silanes under pressure. While Silanizing does convert hydrophilic glass into glass with a hydrophobic coating, RSA-Pro X™ Glass uses a very different surface treatment. The biggest difference as far as you are concerned is that Silanized Glass Vials are susceptible to degradation in the presence of water over time. This leads to the reduction in the coating and eventually, the coating is rendered useless and the vials become hydrophilic again. With RSA-Pro X™ Vials, our proprietary process permanently converts the glass surface into a Hydrophobic surface.
This hydrolytic stability is key for longer term use, storage or with very sensitive compounds.
