Can “deactivator” agents be used on Cogent TYPE-C™ HPLC Columns?

Yes, they can be used with Cogent TYPE-C™ Columns.

Sometimes an acidic or basic condition is required to improve peak shape or sensitivity.  Often, when negatively charged compounds are analyzed on mass spectrometry, buffers are used to enhance sensitivity.  Poor peak shape is caused by metals, particularly iron, and components leaching in an HPLC system.

For example, medronic acid, a methylene-substituted bisphosphonate can be used to mitigate these peak problems and is compatible with our Cogent TYPE-C™ columns.
