Cogent™ HPLC Columns with 4 & 5um particles are rated up to 6,000 psi.

However, it is not recommended (by most instrument producers) that analyses are carried out at this high level. No more than 4,500 psi is recommended during the run. For the 2.o™ (2.2um) phases, we suggest not exceeding approximately 9,000 psi in routine usage.

It should also be noted that “pressure shock” or sudden high pressure or by dropping the pressure too quickly could damage the column.  “Best Practices” for HPLC is not to remove any column fittings until the pressure on the system is zero. Any amount of pressure on the column during removal could cause a rapid drop in pressure which could be damaging to the column.
